- Searches are case-insensitive
- Search terms separated by a space are interpreted as having "OR" between them
- The + and - elements are evaluated before "OR". This means that the search "red blue + jersey" is interpreted as "red (blue + jersey)".
Quotation " "
Search Example: "Stanley Cup" Search results will contain the exact phrase inside the quotations. Used to narrow results.
Parentheses ( )
Search Example: (red blue) Search results will contain "red" or "blue" or both. The parentheses can be used in the same fashion are they are used in arithmetic - to group terms and modify the order of evaluation.
Plus sign +
Search Example: Vince + Carter Search results will contain "Vince" and "Carter". The + sign must be preceded by a space and is used to narrow a search.
Minus sign -
Search Example: bobby - hull Search results will contain "bobby" and not "hull". If used between two search terms, the - operator must be preceded by a space and can optionally be followed by a space.
Complex Examples
Search Example: blue + green - red Search results will contain "blue" and "green" but not "red".
Search Example: "wayne gretzky" + (oilers liberty) - art Search results will contain "wayne gretzky" and "oilers" or "wayne gretzky" and "liberty" (or all three terms), but none will contain "art".
Search Example: jordan -(jersey basketball)
Search results will contain "jordan" but not "jersey" or "basketball".
